New Movie Hunger

Soundtracks are a very important part of a movie. For me, they set the undertone of a movie. If a movie soundtrack and the movie don’t come together well, then it will definitely get a bad review from me.

The soundtrack of The Curious case of Benjamin Button and many other movies were nominated for a World Soundtracks Award this past weekend. A composer for Benjamin Button was celebrating over the weekend but did you know that the soundtrack for Twilight was nominated and won also?

The Soundtrack Academy nominated and voted Alexander Desplat to be Film Composer of the Year. Best Film Score of the Year went to his work on Benjamin Button.

So who were the other winners this weekend in the world of movie soundtracks and film scores?

“JAI HO” by A.R Rahman was voted to be the best original song written for film. I personally cannot get enough of the Pussycat Dolls version. The song just makes you want to get up and dance. Here is the original performed by A.R. Rahman, Sukhvinder Singh, Tanvi Shah, Mahalaksmi Iyver, and Vijay Prakash.

Public Choice went to Chris Burwell and Twilight. Hopefully we will be seeing the soundtrack for New Moon in the 2010 award nominations.

I just felt like something upbeat for Music Monday. What’s better than Miranda Cosgrove’s Raining Sunshine and a little Cloudy with the chance of meatballs. Enjoy your MM and I hope you enjoyed the song.

About a week ago I mentioned that Death Cab for Cutie was going to be on the New Moon soundtrack. Now the band has decided which track will make it into the movie.

Meet Me on the Equinox has been chosen for the New Moon soundtrack. It seems the minute that Death Cab for Cutie found out that thier track was chosen they started working on a video for the song.

I can’t wait till it comes out on MTV or Youtube. I’ll make sure to post it as soon as I can.
