New Movie releases this week
These weeks’ new movie releases seem to be coming from conventions and film festivals. Nicholas Cage is making his mark at the Telluride Film Festival. While J.T. Seaton is bringing comedy and horror to the Dragon Convention fans in Atlanta, Georgia.
At the Telluride Film Festival, they are showing Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans. Nicholas Cage takes on the role of Terence McDonough. A detective with a troubled past whom now has to investigate the murder of five Senegalese immigrants.
Many people thought that the Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans was simply an action film and did not belong at the Telluride Film Festival. Why doesn’t a mainstream actor belong in a short film?
I’m looking forward to finding the film myself after this quote from Screeninglog.
“But what makes this film truly different is the unique tone introduced by director Werner Herzog – so instead of Ferrara’s hard-edged portrait of self-destruction, here we have absurdist humour, surrealist touches and an almost sweetly optimistic outlook amid the amorality and squalor.
The next new movie release is George’s Intervention. Like with all Interventions, friends come together to get someone to stop doing something that is hurting them. This horror comedy as the question “What if the tables are turned?”
You see George is a zombie and his friends want him to stop eating people and enter rehab. What? Zombie rehab? You have to be kidding right. The problem is that this vice is going to hurt George’s friends more than George.
9 out of 10 interventions are successful… This is the 1.
So those are the two movie releases for this week. I’lll be back later to tell you about the other new movie releases and DVD releases.
