Burr Steers 17 Again starring Zac Efron
New Line Cinema, Offspring Entertainment, and Burr Steer bring Movie Hunger readers a story about what we might learn if we were able to do our life all over again in 17 Again.
Mike O’Donnell’s (Matthew Perry) life didn’t form into what he really wanted it to be due to some choices that he made when he was 17. Through a little workings of a spirit guide in the form of the High School janitor Mike O’Donnell gets to be 17 again (Zac Efron).
Will he go for that college Basketball scholarship or will he truly find out what’s important to him?
Rottentomatoes.com gives it a six star rating saying, “Though it uses a well-worn formula, 17 Again has just enough Zac Efron charm to result in a harmless, pleasurable teen comedy.”
I have to agree with Rottentomatoes.com and the members on the site. For me 17 Again was a 7 our of 10 star kind of comedy. Burr Steers and the writers used a storyline that they knew would work for a family comedy and just added a few more elements to the movie. Bur Steers did a great job in the casting because I think that everyone worked well together.
My only quam is that Burr Steers chose to direct a movie whose storyline has been done over and over again. In the movie industry we have seen movie production companies do more than a handful of movies that feature a cute actor like Zac Efron and have him represent a younger version of who he’s suppose to be.
As for the 17 Again cast, the only cast member or character that I didn’t connect to was Alex O’Donnell. I just wasn’t able to connect with Sterling Knight’s acting in 17 Again. Maybe in the future I’ll be able to enjoy his roles.
All in all 17 Again starring Zac Efron is a great comedy for the whole family. It touches on a topic that we all can relate to and has some great funny moments. Zac Efron, Leslie Mann, Thomas Lennon, Matthew Perry, Michelle Trachtenberg, and Sterling Knight were all great choices.
