New movie poster of Gerard Butler and discussion
It’s a new movie poster of Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl to feed your movie hunger. I’m really glad that the advertising department decided to go with pictures of Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl for this movie release.
I was over at /film discussing simpler movie posters when someone made the comment that women will need a picture of Gerard Butler with his shirt off to be attracted to the upcoming movie release of The Ugly Truth.
At first I felt insulted by the comment because I’m a woman and don’t want to be know for watching movies just because the actor looks good. There’s nothing wrong with it but that’s not the reason I would watch this Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl movie. When it comes to movies it’s all about storyline and on screen chemistry between all the actors. I personally will see The Ugly Truth because I like the roles that Gerard Butler decides to take. His comedic roles always seem to make me laugh and I think that’s exactly what is going to happen in this romantic comedy.
Then I began to wonder if most of the women in movie theaters and female DVD rental patrons actually choose a movie for its sex appeal? The oldest saying in the world of advertising is that “Sex sells”. Are you going because of previous pictures you have seen of these two actors? Are you going to see this movie from previous roles Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl have taken?
So when looking at movie posters and movie trailers is sex appeal one of the reasons that you watch a movie? Will you go see The Ugly Truth because Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl are sexy or are there other reasons?
