Could we see free movie downloads and content from ABC?

Published by cmaher at 5:03 pm under movie news Edit This

I love free movie downloads and hope it does come true. The movie news is that Disney/ABC will be working with Youtube to offer new short form content to fans and advertisers. The chance of Youtube fans seeing free movies is still up in the air though.

“Reaching and engaging fans is paramount in all that we do as a company, and YouTube is a great platform to achieve that goal,” said George Bodenheimer, co-chair, Disney Media networks, and president, ESPN and ABC Sports. “Making our content available to fans via YouTube presents an extraordinary opportunity for ESPN to create new revenue streams and new value to advertisers, as they continue to look for new ways to connect with fans in the digital environment.”

As a consumer this is a smart move for Disney/ABC and I look forward to looking at what they have to offer in the term of free movie downloads and viewing content on Youtube. I wouldn’t mind sitting through a few streaming advertisements if a new movie download was offered each week. Keeping people updated on upcoming movie releases would be a benefit to any movie fan.

The ABC Network on Youtube would be the best place for movie fans to keep track of upcoming movie releases instead of searching around for each specific movie page. It would also cut down on Youtube users who violate copyright material by steaming their own cut of a movie trailer or celebrity interview.

At the moment the ABC Network seems to just be showing clips of it’s hit shows and directing people to full episodes at the ABC website. Movie fans can only hope that we’ll start seeing clips of Disney/ABC movies.
