There are some movies that spend weeks in the theaters because they are doing so well. Then there are movies that should just go to video. Where do you think Jason Statham In the name of the King should have been placed?

Along with Eagle Eye, my husband and I sat down to watch In the name of the king because we usually like Jason Stathams martial art moves. So there we are about twenty minutes into the film and we just have to turn it off.

What a complete disappointment and I’m beginning to wonder about the future of Jason Stathams films.

Ray Liota
For one Ray Liota looked like a goof playing the evil Gallian. His characters personality came off as a Brooklyn kid magically dropped into centuries ago and dressed up in fancy garb. Though I wouldn’t mind grabbing Gallians coat for my wardrobe.

The mixture of languages
Leelee Sobieski was doing her best to give Muriella an midevil voice as someone discovering her power but the mixture of Muriella and street talking Gallian just put me off.

Where’s Scooby?
Matthew Lillard did his best to try to bring some gangly comedy into the film but the minute that he stepped on screen all I could ask is “Where’s Scooby?” Matthew Lillard as Duke was a great break from the action but his comedy just couldn’t hold the film up.

So all in all don’t make this movie stop. You would have a better time checking out films like Bangkok Dangerous and Disaster Movie. Choose Nicolas Cage for the action and The Disaster Movie for that same Lillardesqe comedy.
