The lifetime achievement of James Earl Jones
Who would believe that being cast as Lieutenant Lothar Zog—Bombardier in the 1964 movie Dr. Strangelove would be the start of this man’s amazing career. This morning The TNT Screen Actor’s Guild nominated James Earl Jones for this year Lifetime Achievement Award.
I was first introduced to James Earl Jones in 1977 as the voice of Voice of of Lord Darth Vader. Like many, I was entranced by his deep voice and personality on film. Yet, James Earl Jones is more than an Actor.
“One of the hardest things in life is having words in your heart that you can’t utter” - James Earl Jones
James Earl Jones was a poet. As a child James Earl Jones had a stuttering problem. To help him work through this, his teacher had him write poetry to read in front of the class. Yeah, that would get me to stop real quickly.
James Earl Jones has shown the world in many ways that he is a humble humanitarian who cares about the literacy of children. Jones shared his love of books by reading Clifford The Dog to children and launching Verizon literacy campaign called “Reading and Healing”.
Children were given a care package as part of the program that included a box filled with books, magazines, and a journal.
Last but not least James Earl Jones is a humble man. The Actor did not want any recognition for the work that he did during the Star Wars Trilogy and asked that his name would not be credited.
With what James Earl Jones has done in the world in movies, television, and charitable organizations, I can understand why the Screen Actors Guild is giving him this award.
